  The tectonic plates are broken down pieces of the lithosphere. Plate tectonics is responsible for several of the most devastating natural hazards. The map below illustrates the tectonic plates boundary lines. Countries that are on (or closest to) the boundary lines are the ones that are the most affected.  There are three different boundaries: Divergent boundaries : plates move away from each other. Transform boundaries : plates pass one another. Convergent boundaries: plates move towards one another.  As for Hong Kong it is located rather far away from the nearest boundary with the Pacific Plate on the Circum-Pacific Seismic Belt. Therefore, it is not likely to experience major tectonic movement. However, the boundary that is the closest to it is the Convergent Plate Boundary, which means that its neighboring countries are likely to experience earthquakes, floodings, and landslides.
