Hong Kong Hong Kong occupies a total area of 1,108 sq. km in the eastern Pearl River Delta of the South China Sea. Most of Hong Kongs land is very mountainous. Lowlands cover less than one-fifth of Hong Kong's area. The lower land is mostly located in northern Hong Kong along to border with China. Hong Kong has a population of about 7.5 million people, due to this it is considered one of the most densely populated regions of the world. Hazards, disasters, and Catastrophes Hazards: A natural hazard is a natural event that has the power to potentially threaten human life or affect their property.
